Balesin Island

I arrived with a camera, but left with more than photographs. Mornings began with the sound of gentle waves, afternoons drifted beneath endless blue skies, and each sunset felt like a quiet farewell to the day. Between the sea breeze and the stillness of the island, I found myself slowing down, observing more, and appreciating the beauty hidden in simple moments. Balesin wasn't just a place I visited—it was a story I was fortunate enough to witness. 🌊📸✨

I had the opportunity to visit Buscalan, where the experience went beyond the landscape and into the lives of the people who call the village home. Among them was Apo Whang-od Oggay, whose presence was both powerful and mesmerizing. I was able to photograph her, an experience that felt incredibly special.

I also had the honor meeting Apo Pas-ad Balinggao, who, according to locals, was 118 years old- about ten years older than Apo Whang-od. Encountering them in person and documenting them through my lens was a rare honor, offering a quiet glimpse into living history.

Been stopping by here the past few days before heading home for some takeout. It’s actually pretty good—love their Spanish latte and sandwiches. Just sharing in case you wanna try it.

It’s along Macaria Ave here in Pacita. I’ve ordered around 6 PM and even 3 AM, so I think they’re open until early morning. They’ve got a few chairs outside too if you wanna dine in—just a simple al fresco setup by the road.
