we hung our caps out the window like promises
about to be let go, a small yellow jeepney
carrying six people and four years
down a road we already knew by heart
then somewhere between the trees
we started walking the edge like it was nothing
arms out for balance, laughing at how close
we came to falling, the way we always did
the way we always caught each other
and then we ran
barefoot, gowns open like wings we forgot we had
everything blurred except the feeling
that this was it, this was the moment
the tassel finally meant something
not a graduation, a release
we spent four years learning who we were
we spent one evening remembering
we were always meant to run like this
loud, unfocused, alive
free!
saoirse, because some things
you dont walk into
you run!
