The biggest lesson I've learnt this year is to not give so much of yourself to people who will not do the same for you. It's a hard truth, but a necessary one. I used to pour my heart and soul into relationships, thinking that my love and dedication would be reciprocated. But time and time again, I found myself drained, exhausted, and left with nothing but broken promises and shattered dreams.
I've learned that it's not selfish to set boundaries, to prioritize my own needs, and to expect mutual respect and care. I've learned that I can't pour from an empty cup, and that I must fill my own vessel first before trying to quench the thirst of others.
I've learned to recognize the signs of one-sided relationships, where I'm always the one giving, sacrificing, and compromising. I've learned to walk away from those who take without giving, who use without appreciating, and who ignore without caring.
I've learned that my worth and value come from within, and that I don't need to seek validation from those who don't see my worth. I've learned to love myself first, to prioritize my own happiness, and to surround myself with people who lift me up, support me, and love me for who I am.
This lesson has been a game-changer for me, and I hope it resonates with you too. Remember, your worth is precious, and your love and care are valuable gifts. Don't waste them on those who won't cherish and reciprocate them.
