Healing Begins When Blame Ends
Many of the wounds we carry in life are not only caused by what happened to us, but by the blame we continue to hold in our hearts. Blame keeps the pain alive. It keeps the past breathing inside our present. Every time we replay the offense, every time we say “they did this to me”, the wound is reopened.
But healing begins the moment we choose a different path.
In the story inspired by Genesis 45, Joseph had every reason to blame his brothers. They betrayed him, hated him, and sold him into slavery. His life was shattered because of their cruelty. Years of suffering, loneliness, and hardship could have hardened his heart forever.
Yet when Joseph finally stood before them again, he chose something greater than blame—he chose forgiveness.
Instead of revenge, he offered compassion. Instead of accusation, he offered understanding. Instead of reminding them of their sin, he reminded them of God’s purpose.
Joseph said in essence: “You meant it for evil, but God meant it for good.”
That is the moment healing began.
Healing does not mean what happened was right. It does not mean the pain was small. It means we refuse to let bitterness become our prison. When blame ends, the heart becomes free.
Blame chains us to yesterday.
Forgiveness releases us into tomorrow.
Some people today are still carrying anger, resentment, and pain from years ago. Broken relationships, betrayal, harsh words, or deep disappointments may still echo in the soul. But God invites us into a different way of living.
A life where grace is stronger than bitterness.
A life where mercy triumphs over revenge.
A life where healing replaces blame.
When we release blame, we allow God to restore what was broken. We allow peace to enter places where pain once ruled.
Sometimes the greatest miracle is not that the past changes—but that our hearts do.
So today, choose healing.
Choose forgiveness.
Choose freedom.
Because healing begins the moment blame ends.
