Barn Swallow
𝐻𝑖𝑟𝑢𝑛𝑑𝑜 𝑟𝑢𝑠𝑡𝑖𝑐𝑎

A fairly large, colorful swallow. Usually easy to identify with its long, forked tail and dark rump. Iridescent navy-blue above with a rich orange throat and forehead. Underparts vary across range, from bright buffy-orange to whitish. Occurs in any open habitat, especially large fields and wetlands.

Often seen foraging in flocks, sometimes mixed with other species of swallow. Note head and breast pattern and tail length to help separate from various similar species in Africa, Asia, and Australia (e.g., Welcome Swallow, Angolan Swallow, Pacific Swallow).

Kilalanin...

Kilalanin natin ang mga perwisyo sa ating lokal na ekosistema.

Bukod sa mga puno na hindi katutubo sa atin, mayroon ding mga hayop na hindi nakakabuti sa ating lokal na ekosistema at maging sa mga katutubong hayop dahil sa pakikipagkompitensiya ng mga ito sa kanilang pinagkukuhanan ng pagkain.

Kilalanin ang mga ito.

kilala sa tawag na "Berdugo" sa Tagalog
at "Amumungot" sa Bisaya
ang mga katawagang ito ay hango sa kanyang 'feeding habit'

bago kainin ang nahuling pagkain (small birds, lizards, and occasionally small mammals, amphibians, and even other birds),
itinutusok muna ito sa tinik o sa 'barbed wire' bago kainin...

Migratory ang mga ito na nagttravel galing Taiwan at Japan tuwing ber months.
ang ilan ay tumatagal hanggang March...

YUN NGA LANG, BIGLANG YUMUKO NG MAKITA AKO...
HMMM.. ANO KAYA ANG IBIG MONG IPARATING BERDUGO???

Sa karamihan, lalo sa mga Tagalog, ito ay kilala sa tawag na "Mayang P**a".
Kadalasang makikita sa mga palayan.
Sa ngayon, madalas na din itong makita sa mga urban areas.

Black-crowned Night Heron
"Nycticorax nycticorax"
Jala-Jala, Rizal

Stocky heron with neck usually tucked in. Adults overall pale grayish with black cap and back. Red eyes. Juveniles noticeably different, brown and streaky with yellow eyes. Often crouched under overhanging branches during the day. Feeds nocturnally for fish, frogs and other prey. Where it overlaps with Yellow-crowned Night-Heron, note large teardrop-shaped white spots on wing coverts which Yellow-crowned lacks.

Red-keeled Flowerpecker
"Dicaeum australe"
Least Concern

"A small bird of lowland and foothill forest and more open woodland. Black upperparts are glossed blue, while white underparts are washed with pale gray. A red stripe runs down the belly. Note the fairly long slender bill. Similar to Fire-breasted Flowerpecker, but lacks the black line down the belly. Voice includes sharp, repetitive “chik!” calls, sometimes descending into a more varied, rapid series and a trill."
