I’m NOT passionate about photography.

Let’s celebrate World Photography Day by talking about my relationship with photography… Yeah, you read that correctly. I’m not passionate about photography.

I don’t pick up my camera because I love shooting. I pick up my camera because I’m chasing something. Something I don’t find every time. Something I’m always looking for. Emotions.

Just like a gold seeker isn’t passionate about sorting rocks, but about finding gold, I hate spending hours sorting and editing photos (and that’s why I mostly shoot at 5fps 😂).

But when I go out to shoot surfing on a big swell day, or any other action, I’m there to find a gem. And the gems are some of these photos.
That’s the only reason I shoot. I’m addicted to the emotions sports give me, whether I’m watching on TV or standing right in front of the action.

Photography is just my way of chasing that feeling.

A King’s Exit 👑

Teahupo’o gave us every kind of weather today.
In the first photo, almost connected to the judges tower by a rainbow, Kelly Slater catches one last wave wearing the Outerknown Tahiti Pro 2026 jersey as he leaves the competition area.

Other photos capture a day full of barrels and emotions.

Tough day for women. Tricky weather, huge sets coming from another dimension in a middle of a no wave period.
Didn’t go as expected for our local gems except our very young Polynesian seed, Kelia Gallina who just won her first CT heat at… 14. Yeah. FOURTEEN 😅.

Life finds a way…
Today, another page of my childhood turns.

Sam Neill wasn’t just an actor to me. Dr. Alan Grant helped awaken my fascination with nature, animals, science… and, of course, dinosaurs.

Even today, I still catch myself humming the Jurassic Park theme whenever I witness a landscape that leaves me speechless or when I swim with whales…

Jurassic Park is far more than a dinosaur movie. It raises a question: Just because we can, should we? Or should we sometimes have the wisdom to refrain, despite our curiosity and ambition, for the sake of humanity?… 30 years later the question is still more relevant than ever.

Sometimes, it’s better not to let go of the rope. It connects the surfer to the driver, the one who sets the speed and the rhythm. Once released, the surfer alone, facing the wave..
