Camouflage is everything in the rainforest.
🐍 Walking through the forest distracted is simply not an option. A great wildlife guide and tracker makes all the difference. Trained eyes spot what most of us would easily miss.
🌳 Along the trail, Guido, our guide, suddenly spotted her: a magnificent ‘Lachesis muta’, the legendary Shushupe or Bushmaster. Growing over 3 meters (10 ft), it is the largest viper in the Americas and one of the world’s largest venomous snakes.
🐍 It had been a long time since I was lucky enough to encounter one. Keeping a safe distance and never disturbing her, I captured these images with a 100–500mm zoom.
🌳 In the Amazon, you never know what might be hiding in plain sight.

Meet Chicharrón!!!
💚 Just three months old, this little tapir (Tapirus terrestris) lost his mother to hunting and arrived at the Taricaya Rescue Center 🇵🇪weak, orphaned, and extremely vulnerable.
👏 Today, Taricaya’s veterinarians and volunteers care for him around the clock. He still needs special formula several times a day and sleeps safely under protection from predators.
🙏 A heartfelt thank you to MariAngela, veterinary student, and all the volunteers whose dedication gives rescued wildlife a second chance.
🌎 Sharing experiences like this with our guests is incredibly rewarding. It allows them to see firsthand the challenges wildlife faces because of hunting, trafficking, and human exploitation—and why conservation matters.
💚 Chicharrón’s story is still being written. We hope his next chapter will be back in the wild.

Back in the wild at Lake Sandoval, Perú 🌿🐊

🛶 Deep in the Tambopata National Reserve, our canoe glided quietly through one of the Peruvian Amazon’s most spectacular oxbow lakes, until two powerful Black Caimans appeared along the shoreline, each measuring more than two meters!
🐊 Reaching up to 5 meters (16 feet), the Black Caiman (Melanosuchus niger) is the largest caiman in the Amazon. Once heavily hunted for its skin, this magnificent species is now protected.
💚 For me, there is something truly special and rewarding about sharing encounters like this with our guests. Seeing these apex predators in the wild helps us understand their vital role in the ecosystem, and why protecting the Amazon and its incredible biodiversity matters so much. 🌿

How inspiring when wonderful birdwatching hosts take the time to share their inner magic with us as artists and acclaimed interior designers—grateful for the opportunity to share what we love most: our world, in a truly different and personalized way. ❤️🌿

This time, in the Amazon rainforest of the Las Piedras River Basin, Tambopata, Peru, they recorded 114 new bird species in just four days, adding to their list of the 619+ species reported in this private conservation area. 🐦🌳

It touches our hearts when our destinations become a source of inspiration to create art and raise awareness. Passion and knowledge in favor of conservation—that’s what moves us at .

Today I celebrate one of the greatest passions of my life: photography.

After many years behind the camera, exploring, traveling, and connecting with nature, photography has taught me to observe, to wait, and above all, to tell stories and share the beauty of our planet. 🌿🦜🌎

Every image holds a moment, an emotion, and an experience that can last forever.

Today, I celebrate this special day from the heart of the Amazon rainforest, surrounded by the incredible nature and wildlife that continue to inspire my journey. 🌿🐒🦜

🍀 It is a wonderful feeling when our programs go beyond simply showing guests incredible places and wildlife, and instead inspire them to become part of real conservation efforts.
🐒 What could be more meaningful than sharing authentic wildlife rescue and release experiences? It is heartbreaking to see a wild animal frightened and desperate inside a cage. But that story can change completely when we give that animal a second chance — returning it to its natural habitat, far from the threats caused by agricultural and urban expansion, as well as the illegal wildlife trade.

One of the most rewarding moments for us is seeing the genuine happiness and excitement on our guests’ faces when they personally experience what it means to give a wild animal a second chance. Those moments of joy, connection, and awareness are powerful reminders that protecting natural habitats and the wildlife that depends on them is not just important — it is a must.

This time, we had the privilege of sharing that experience with a wonderful and adventurous family from Ireland — Ciaran, Emma, Brody, and Carter. Their enthusiasm and sensitivity toward wildlife and conservation remind us that we are doing things the right way: creating meaningful travel experiences that educate, inspire, and connect people with nature.

Together, we had the opportunity to return a two-toed sloth to its natural habitat, thanks to the wildlife rescue and release program at Taricaya Eco Reserve in Tambopata, Peru.

This is what responsible ecotourism should be about: traveling with purpose, learning through real experiences, supporting conservation, and leaving a positive impact on the places and wildlife we are fortunate enough to visit.

🦅 En los últimos años, quienes vivimos en Lima, Perú hemos notado cada vez más la presencia del gavilán acanelado (Parabuteo unicinctus) en nuestros parques y áreas verdes. Incluso ya es posible verlo anidando dentro de la ciudad.
🪶 Me sorprende cómo esta rapaz se ha adaptado a la vida urbana. Hoy es un habitante común y un importante controlador natural de palomas, cuculíes, tórtolas, otras aves y roedores. Hasta los he visto intentar cazar ardillas, una especie introducida en Lima.
🪶 Más que simplemente “un gavilán en los parques”, el acanelado es un excelente ejemplo de cómo una rapaz puede adaptarse y ocupar un nicho dentro del ecosistema urbano de Lima.
