Not my ancestors wildest dream-just the life she longed for…”

A life where she could be valued and not dehumanized. A life where she could move freely without having to worry about being harmed. A life where her intellect wasn’t questioned but admired. A life where people didn’t toss labels on her like “DEI hire” in their efforts to assume she wasn’t worthy of being in the room on her own merits. A life where she radiated joy and not continuous pain.

I know I represent the life my ancestors longed for through my words, actions, and deeds. And THAT makes me so proud.

Neville Pinto who is the President of the U of Cincinnati was born in India. The university announced that the U of Cincy is officially removing all DEI initiatives and programs. This is a man of Indian ethnicity. How the hell does he think he got this position if diversity, equity, and inclusion wasn’t important??!!

Never again question how atrocities happen in our society. We are seeing it play out daily.

Today I sat at a table with future Black female doctors, lawyers, political activist, researchers, corporate executives, all letting me know about their plans for their future. As I listened to them talk about their research projects no longer being funded or conferences canceled due to this current administrations attack on DEI, I felt my heart breaking for these amazing scholars. And then they reminded me why they call Spelman women UNDAUNTED, because the next sentence led with however I WILL BE DOING…

I left them so hopeful and remain intentional about continuing to amplify my voice….

Today I sat in on a conversation about how must we as Black people move forward while the Trump administration is trying so hard to push us backwards. And the speaker said something I needed to hear. The speaker said, “We as Black people must remain undaunted…”

UNDAUNTED: not intimidated or discouraged by difficulty, danger, or disappointment.
