I visited this scene a number of times while in Amsterdam and found on this occasion what interested me was the reflection and the gentle movement in the canal. This was caused by canal boats entering and leaving a dock just out of shot, creating a different type of ripple to those caused by a breeze.

I found myself timing my exposures for these ripples and waiting for just the right amount of distortion. The challenge was finding that brief moment where the familiar architecture of Damrak became something more abstract.

I’ve just returned from a few weeks traveling through Europe, spending time in Istanbul, Italy, Amsterdam and Paris. This photo of the Ponte Vecchio was taken at dawn, before the crowds arrived and while the river was still calm. It was a stunning morning to be in Florence.

Great to see Moko Artspace featured in the latest issue of Coromind Magazine.

Moko has long been a special creative space at Hot Water Beach, showcasing the work of artists from around New Zealand in a beautiful courtyard and gallery setting near the coast.

I’m grateful to have my work represented there alongside many other talented New Zealand artists. If you’re visiting the Coromandel, it’s well worth stopping in.
