I don't know Becky, but after my experiences this year, I do know that I would have really struggled to get through without having my wonderful family around (and of course the support of so many incredible friends).
I hope Becky is able to get home to be with her family, and most importantly, support her Dad.
If you can donate - even a little - I know your support would be hugely appreciated.
Click on this link to read Nichole's post (from Emmy & Me) and there is a link in the post to the give a little page she has set up for Becky.
Good luck with raising the funds guys and all the best to you and your Dad Becky xx
I was planning on going live and chatting to you guys about this, but I just can't because I can't get the words out.
This is my beautiful friend Becky Eliza Keen and her equally beautiful husband Tate. I don't use the word beautiful lightly, and I don't mean it in the conventional sense of beauty. These guys are the kind of beauty that doesn't age, or expire, or wither - they are just genuinely beautiful people and Emmy and I are so blessed to have them be a part of our little kiwi fam.
I met Becky not long after she and Tate moved to NZ (Becky from England and Tate from the US) to start a new life, a new business ( Keen Kitchen )and eventually a little family of their own (I keep nagging, I can't wait for this!).
Despite having amazing friends here, and practically being kiwi's now, it's pretty tough when your entire family is thousands of miles away, even worse when something goes horribly wrong.
Two days ago Becky's dad had a horrible accident at work and broke his neck. He's had massive surgery and now has a long, slow road to recovery ahead.
My beautiful British babe needs to get home to be with her family, and I plan on doing every thing I can to help her and her family out by getting her there.
I promised Becky's mum that I would look after her - I'm a mum and I can't imagine how hard it would be to have your baby girl living on the other side of the world - and I know that Becky would never ask for help, although she'd be the first person to help anyone else.
So, I've set up http://givealittle.co.nz/cause/getbeckyhome to try and help ease their worries at this tough time. I wish I could do more, but I'm hoping that if enough of us band together we'll be able to get Bex on a flight home as soon as possible because I've done everything I can to comfort her here, she just needs to be with her family.
If any of you are able to donate I would be so grateful, and I know Becky and her family would be too. Please feel free to share this around - I know Becky and Tate are well loved and well respected in our little community, and I'd love to show them how much they mean to us.
Becky, my friend, I love you and I wish I could do more. All of our love to you, Mummy Starr, and your sisters, and all of the greatest Bowie hits for your dad 💜
