This month I had the joy of returning to Kind Hands Respite Care Cottage to capture the opening of their new purpose built extension.
What a delight to see old friends and to take in the amazing new space!
This new home away from home will double the current student capacity and with it, the ability for the Kindhands team to support children whom are medically fragile or neuro diverse, with a learning space uniquely suited to their complex needs.
Supported by educators, nurses and caregivers, these tamariki mā are able to socialize and experience early childhood education safely. Such a gift to them, and their families.

Hey there!

I know things have been super quiet here, and for good reason; I sustained a substantial back injury 6 months ago and I am still trying to find a resolution.
Because of this, my creative desire to pick up my camera all but disappeared.
But I took some baby steps today to get back into things.

Feels so good to be creating for my loved ones again 🥰

I'm ready to start editing, coffee in hand ofcourse ☕. See you all again soon!

Isolation with a two year old allows you to experience a range of intense emotions. Sometimes the whole range in the space of 5 minutes!

The house feels too small for his big personality. The kiddie locks no longer contain his exuberant spirit. He is exploring and a few times in the last 2 weeks I have wanted to tear my hair out in frustration.
Because trying to be everything to him, to make up for everything he has lost, has been exhausting.

There have been tears and yelling. From both of us.

But god do I love him. His spirit, his joy and his love.
And that is what will get is through the next few weeks or months.
I will stop trying to be everything; I will simply love him the way my heart feels guided to. All the other things will fall into place eventually.

To all my fellow mums who are currently cooped up with a 2 year old. I hear you. I see you. We will get through this!
