The birth and fresh side of luv meg

Hey, I’m Megs. I bet if you are soon to become a first time mum or dad you have been told this advice, “Savour every minute as it goes by so quickly” or “before you know it, they will be leaving home”.

If you are doing it second, third or even fourth time around you will know this is so true. The first few days as you get to know your little person can be a complete blur.

Personally, I look at the photos of my four babies and I have very few photos of the first few days with them.

My first baby of course I have plenty because it was from the olden days before we had great cellphones. I actually printed them (crazy I know) but they are so precious. Lots of photos of dad with baby as I am the photographer in our house.

Baby number two -well, the first photos we have of him was when he was two days old.

Baby number three. my cell phone crashed and well...let's move on …

Baby number four - I have a few cell pics taken lovingly by Dad from some weird angle that I have resisted the urge to delete.

I really wish there was someone like me out there offering to take photos of the first few days. Sure, I have posed images of babies but nothing of real connection, love and bonding.

This is why I have moved away from doing posed studio work and have now chosen to focus on producing images full of love and connection that you will treasure more than anything.

Next thing you know, they’ve grown and turned into teenagers that grunt at you. I know it may sound daunting to have someone in your birth space or visit with you in the first few days when you’re not feeling as glamorous. But seriously, that messy bun never looked so good as it does when you hold your baby for the first time.
