Unless they’re this cool!

When Kelsey and Daniel invited me to photograph their wedding at Hobbiton I was shook. I’ve only ever watched small parts of the films and I felt like I wasn’t ‘Middle Earth’ enough to preform such a task. But after 15 years of living in New Zealand, I DID IT - I educated myself and got to see inside some of the best holes ever made.

This session brought me to tears 😭

The photoshoot itself was glorious. We ran along the beach and splashed in the waves together. I went home drenched in salt water but so warm inside.

It wasn’t until I delivered this gallery that Holly (Māmā) pointed something out to me. The final photo of Pāpā and his tamaiti squeezing hands is overwhelmingly special. ‘Tangaroa’ (guardian of the sea) is the middle name given to the boy holding Pāpā’s hand extra tight. Tangaroa not only showed up in the most beautiful way (on Pāpā’s arm), but he also provided us with the calmest oceans to play in.

Now if that isn’t special, I don’t know what is.
