Wanna create your very own native lizard garden or 'mokomoko manor' in your backyard? Well, my latest blog post is all about how I successfully managed to create a lizard garden that now has multiple native skinks living in it!

These northern grass skinks are living their best lives in my dedicated lizard garden. I've written all about how I made a suitable habitat, the native plants I used, and the resources that helped me.

I'm pretty stoked because three of my images received awards in the nature category at the NZIPP - the New Zealand Institute of Professional Photography 2022 Iris Awards! It was my first time entering this competition and I'm super happy to have been awarded a Silver and two Bronze awards 🤗

This is such incredible footage of a juvenile ruru (morepork) nextt to its mum, experiencing thunder for the first time!

A white-capped albatross soaring in front of the white caps of Tapuae-o-Uenuku, the tallest mountain in the Kaikōura Ranges. Such a stunning backdrop! On a clear day, I reckon our seabirds have the best possible view of Aotearoa. Pure magic.

An incredibly sweet moment that melted my heart... and then made me cackle. The expression of the tauhou (silvereye) on the left is perfection!

Tauhou pair up and snuggle like this during the breeding season, and it's one of the most wholesome things to witness 🥰

This kererū is such a mood. Heard a saying recently about how you either come out of lockdown as a chunk, hunk or drunk. Isn't it amazing that a kererū can be all three at once:
- so chunky and round
- outrageously hunky and dashing for a pigeon
- can get tipsy on fermented berries in its crop and topple over
Friggin love kererū!

One of my backyard tūī pals contemplating the rain. This dude is currently doing his best to charm a female tūī and so far she has seemed rather unimpressed by his efforts! I'm certainly appreciating his singing during this lockdown though.

I present to you a photo series called "Yelling Pīwakawaka™", perhaps my greatest photographic achievement thus far 😆

For some reason, I seem to have developed quite the collection of images showcasing the pīwakawaka mid-cheep, and I love it. It's amazing how such a tiny bird can be so loud!

These images just crack me up and bring me a lot of joy. I hope you enjoy them too!

My first blog about my trip with Heritage Expeditions is live! This one is all about the magic of Piopiotahi - Milford Sound, the first place we visited in our incredible week of exploration.

Have a read, I hope you enjoy :)

Piopiotahi - Milford Sound. A blog about the first day of an incredible adventure as one of Heritage Expeditions' True Young Explorers. Dramatic landscapes and awesome wildlife were everywhere we looked.
