NZIPP Wellington NZIPP Wellington region is a subsidiary of the New Zealand Institute of Professional Photography.

We regularly hold events in the region and welcome all photographers to join us. To find out more about NZIPP events and membership, visit www.nzipp.org.nz. We also run a non-public Facebook Group for members to discuss technical and business issues associated with photography, and provide opportunities such as business referrals.

Last but not least we have one another one of our very own NZIPP members...... Andrew Stewart!

Andrew Stewart (MNZIPP dist ) is a photographer from Gladstone, Wairarapa. He has been photographing quietly for over thirty years, and in 2021 stepped away from his professional career in sustainable land management to devote more time to photography. Andrew enjoys recording the world for posterity and currently focuses on documentary and landscape photography.
Last year Andrew photographed the hikoi as it travelled from Te Rerenga Wairua (Cape Reinga) to Poneke (Wellington). He will be presenting photos from that experience

Tonight we are announcing our final two speakers for 10-10-10. Andie Noon is speaking as a photographer for a very special cause, Heartfelt 🩷

Andie is a NZIPP accredited wedding and portrait photographer, specialising in combining candid moments with gently posed portraits.

Andie has been volunteering for Heartfelt in New Zealand for 5 years, giving the gift of photographic memories to the families of stillborn, premature and terminally ill babies.

3 of the families Andie has photographed have generously and bravely allowed Andie to share with us some of their most cherished photographs.

Need another reason to book your ticket to this years 10-10-10?

Here it is!

Andrew Gordon's work pushes the boundaries of traditional photography through experimental darkroom techniques. By washing chemicals across the surface of (often expired) exposed photographic paper, he creates what he calls confabulations — the unintentional fabrication or distortion of memory. Drawing on minimalist and landscape traditions, his work often drifts toward abstraction, exploring not what a photograph represents, but the photograph as an object in itself.

With over 20 years behind the lens, Pōneke-based photographer Sophie Macdonald brings a wealth of experience and creativity to her work. Having recently completed her Graduate Diploma in Photography at Massey University, Sophie continues to push her studio practice while exploring fresh and diverse photographic styles. Our fifth speaker joining us for this years 10-10-10 is....... Ben Girven!!!

Ben Girven (Ngāti Kahungunu ki Wairoa), is a photographer and visual artist from Te Whanganui-a-Tara, currently studying his Master of Fine Arts at Toi Rauwhārangi. His practice uses maramataka (Māori lunar calendar) as a mediator for photogram making within the Whenua. Ben explores connections between whakaahua (photography), mātauranga, whakapapa, Ranginui and Paptūānuku.

We’re excited to welcome Ben Girven (Ngāti Kahungunu ki Wairoa) to 10-10-10!
A photographer and visual artist from Te Whanganui-a-Tara, Ben’s work blends maramataka, whakaahua, and whenua — exploring the powerful connections between mātauranga, whakapapa, Ranginui and Papatūānuku. Currently completing his MFA at Toi Rauwhārangi, Ben brings a unique and thoughtful voice to the conversation around art, place and time.

A passionate photographer since childhood, Mary has spent the past 15 years honing her craft — capturing a diverse range of styles and subjects, with a special love for the sea and coastline, inspired by her career as a marine scientist.
Shooting almost every day, Mary’s dedication has earned her recognition in local competitions, as well as invitations to present talks, lead workshops, and exhibit her work, including the current show at Tākina.
Mary’s enthusiasm for photography is infectious, and she’s excited to share her creative journey at 10-10-10.
