Word of mouth means more than you probably realise.
When someone recommends me to a friend, a sister, a workmate, or someone in their mum’s group… I don’t just see it as a referral.
I see it as trust.
Because you’re putting my name in front of someone you care about and saying, “I think she’s the person you’re looking for.”
And honestly? That means a lot.
Photography is personal.
You’re inviting someone into your family, your home, your pregnancy, your birth, your chaos, your ordinary moments and the little pieces of your life that you want to remember.
So when a past client or friend recommends me, it tells me that I’ve created an experience that was worth talking about.
That’s how community is built.
Not just through posts and algorithms, but through people sharing their experiences, telling their friends and passing my name on.
Some of my favourite clients have found me because another family said, “You need to book Leah.”
And I will never take that for granted.
So if you’ve ever recommended me, shared my work, tagged a friend, sent someone my way, or simply told someone about your experience with me…
thank you. Truly.
You’re not just helping my business grow.
You’re helping me reach more families who might be looking for someone to document their memories too x

The days are slowly getting longer and I can’t wait for more nights like this one. This mama in her very own flower meadow. Also the sunsets are still nice and early enough for the next few weeks for you to have a beautiful sunset session and still have the kids home and in bed at a decent hour. Just saying!!

Imposter syndrome

It’s time to address it.

The thoughts. The intentions are always there. Before every session, I tell myself the same thing.Great idea. Let’s get some behind the scenes content. The session arrives. We get caught up in the moments, the connection, the laughter, the chaos. The session ends. And the phone hasn’t left the bag.No content.

I’ll post tomorrow....Tomorrow comes and goes. Then another tomorrow! Before we know it, weeks have passed since the last post.

Comparison. Comparison really is the thief of joy!Yep… it definitely finds its way into my head. The shame. The overwhelm. The inconsistency. The doubt. The feeling of falling behind. It all starts piling up until showing up feels harder than staying quiet. And if I’m honest, sometimes it becomes easier not to post at all.

Being real here… Because while I’ve been caught up incomparison, inconsistency and worrying about whether I’m showing up enough, I’ve been forgetting what’s actually sitting in my galleries. So much joy. So much connection. So many little moments that made me smile behind the camera. So many families who trusted me to document something that matters to them. That is what I want to focus on. Not how often someone else is posting. Not how polished someone else’s feed looks. Not whether I’m doing enough. Just the work. The people. The moments. And showing up to share them.

You will be seeing more from me.

The things I notice in family sessions.

Those little habits families have that they don’t even realise they’re doing.

The handholding.
The snuggles.
The looks.
The way love quietly shows up in ordinary moments.

The way a child reaches for their safe person without even thinking about it.

The exhausted smile a mum gives after spending the entire session wiping faces, noses, adjusting clothing and attitudes, and making sure everyone is okay.

These are exactly the things I look for during a session. The moments in between. The ones that often go unnoticed at the time, but become the moments you treasure most.

They’re the everyday moments that seem so ordinary while you’re living them, yet carry so much emotional weight when you look back on them.

As a parent, you quickly realise just how fast their childhood changes. Suddenly, you begin to see time a little differently.
The magic really isn’t in the poses.

It’s in the way your family is living right now.
The way your child wraps their arms around your neck.
The way little hands still reach for yours.
The way everyone fits together in this season of life.
Because one day, these will be the things you miss the most.
And that’s why they’re worth remembering.

This session here is what really kicked off my Collaboration Sessions.

This awesome family spends a lot of time skating together, so when I put the call out for a creative collab session, they jumped on board straight away. They got to do what they love most while I captured all the fun, connection, movement and personality that makes their family them

The feedback from these guys has honestly been so amazing, and they can’t wait to get these images up on their walls.
That’s exactly what these sessions are about, capturing real moments, real passions, and creating something meaningful along the way.

If you’ve had a look through my Collaboration Sessions and any of them tick a box for you, I would absolutely love to hear from you!

MOTHER’S DAY GIVEAWAY

Motherhood is heavy.

Not just the obvious parts… but the invisible ones.

The mental load. The constant thinking. The worrying. The pressure to get it right.
The days that feel long. The nights that feel even longer.

And sometimes… life throws even more on top of that. Grief. Stress. Loneliness. Things we don’t always talk about.

Some mums are out here carrying more than anyone realises. Still showing up. Still loving their babies. Still putting themselves last.

And somewhere along the way… they disappear from the frame.

This giveaway is for her.

I want to gift a photo session to a mum who’s been doing it tough.
Not for perfect photos, but to remind her that she’s here. That she matters. That this part of her story deserves to be seen.

If you know a mum like this, I want to hear about her.

The real story. The hard parts. The why.
Comment “LINK” and I’ll send you the entry form to nominate her.

Nominations close Sunday, May 3rd.
The session will take place in May, within the Waikato region.

If you’re a local business who feels this and wants to contribute something, please reach out.

Let’s show one mum some unexpected love.
