Had a wild time flying over Mt. Olympus

Seeing the tallest peak on the peninsula at eye level wasn’t something I ever thought I’d get to do.

The scale of Olympus and Blue Glacier were still just as impressive from the sky as they are from the moraine.

Looking down on the endless layers of snowy peaks gave me a new appreciation for the landscapes I spend all summer hiking in. Truly an incredible place of infinite peaks, valleys, and magic.

Rainier made an appearance a couple hundred miles away on the horizon as well.

Rainy days in Milford Sound

I’ve dreamed of taking pictures at Milford Sound for years, before I ever owned a camera.

That dream came true at the end of our trip to New Zealand.

Heavy rains meant the waterfalls would be out in full force as we cruised through the Sound. We were surrounded by thousands of cascading falls that seemed to originate in the heavens.

The scale of the peaks and the countless waterfalls made for a magical and unforgettable few days.

Our first 4 days in Aotearoa were a daydream

The Land of the Long White Cloud, The Land that Time Forgot, The land of the hobbit

Prehistoric forest, impossibly blue water, 15 foot tall ferns, a Bay of Many Coves

The views just didn’t stop during our first 4 days tramping across the South Island of New Zealand.

Left, right, up, down, it didn’t matter where we looked. It was pure magic in every direction.

We ended our first stretch of hiking with a walk among the cosmos as glow worms shined like distant stars along a stream born of a 60 foot waterfall.

I’ll be doing my best to share photos more photos on my blog as we spend the next month and a half. Link is in my bio if you want to follow along!
