It doesn't feel like I have posted in awhile.
Unfortunately, life has gotten pretty busy but is looking to slow down next month and I can not wait!

In the meantime, I have been working on an assessment this week.
Taking a photo, and step by step putting them through post-production and what each step looks like.
Are they images that would be considered "art" and placed in a gallery??
Are they images that would be found in a magazine? Or within travel magazines? Or perhaps in social media tagging your

How much editing depends on where the images end up. Limited and a cool shot is to National Geographic, touch more could end up in the news paper and to much could be in an art gallery.

When you edit an image what constraints to you place on them to fit that criteria?
If it was National Geographic we all know that those images have nothing done in the editing stage, what you see is how it was taken! Now that is some skill I can tell you.

Working on an assessment.

I like this image for so many different reasons, firstly the calf was wandering in by itself into the trailer therefore not man handled, but also how bright the calf is and the dark and gloomy place it is going into brings a bit of contrast.

I am doing some more studying this year through the Southern Institute of Technology, Level 6 photography.

I have to start looking at the images that I take, and before I do anything with them, I have to try and put into words what the story is for that image, what I am trying to portray and how would I alter that image to make it look better.

Then compare the original image to the altered image and see if it came out the way that I wanted it to.

Here is one of my first conversions, think that the black and white looks better.

A couple of images from my weekend away at Paeroa.

Working on the Black and White theme with Peter Rees.

Always enjoy weekends away with others who also enjoy photography. Even though I have been to this area before, speaking with others you can always get some interesting ideas.

Plus to many laughs also helps.

Love finding country church's on a road trip.
For me they represent a place where people would gather, spend time, sing, dance and learn.
A place where people would laugh, converse and wed, especially where there are not many places in the rural community to get together

My second mini photo shoot from Sunday at the Tractor and machinery day out in Mamaku.

This wonderful woman (I think she had friends in high places in the tractor world TBH) had a (what seemed like) a quick tutorial on the tractor before heading down and back giving plowing a go.

Nice to see woman out there doing these things, given the fact that we have been involved with farming since my Grandfathers were in the war and my Grandmothers had to look after the farms they came home to.

Had a mini photo shoot with Andrew yesterday at a tractor day in the Mamakus.

Apparently this tractor use to be at a play ground at Tarawera back in the day and has ended up on this hill top.
Andrew has photos of him on it when he was a kid, and now he has one as an adult.
