Theses beautiful moments were captured last year....I was asked to do a family shoot for the Lawson family and looking back at these photos is a reminder for me of how much I love to shoot lifestyle, they tell a story, they are intimate, relaxed and show the bond that this gorgeous family share. When I asked Jess if she would do a portrait shoot with me I already had an image in my head of what her portfolio would look like, to me she had this natural bohemian beach vibe to her (pretty obvious considering her surfing background) but there was also something more, Jess has the most natural beauty, the images that we took were all completely natural and untouched which just goes to show how stunning this lady is, but her confidence and awareness of who she is are qualities that shine in her images, there is an ease and a love of life in her, throw in the most gorgeous 70's inspired hat ( I think it was her mums ) and it just amps it all up to next level gorgeousness.

A post from the past where it all began.....Couture was where my portrait photography all started and Monique was the first portrait shoot I ever did....really don't know where to start when it comes to this gorgeous lady one of the most beautiful people I have ever met inside and out. I actually got to shoot Monique again earlier this year, and same results the most stunning images, being able to recapture shots of someone like Monique is just a dream, her confidence and personality just shine in every shot....would absolutely love to shoot with her again one day.

THE TRANSFORMATION from 'Couture' to Portrait by Lee Swann....
I first started 'Couture' as a sideline to our photography business 'Tanz&Lily' as a way to incorporate a side of my photography that I found I really loved. If you had asked me 2 years prior if I would ever shoot portraits I would have answered 'no way' but from my very first portrait shoot with 'Monique' I realised how exciting and beautiful portraits could actually be.
Tanz&Lily gave me the confidence to meet people and 'Couture' gave me the confidence to do what I really wanted to do as a photographer.
Photography is not an easy business to get into nowadays, there is so much competition and you can be up against some incredibly talented and technically savvy individuals but if you follow your heart and passion it seems to cut its own road for you 'Portrait by Lee Swann' was just a natural evolution from 'Couture' kind of like everything coming together and a feeling of right time right place.
I now have a beautiful wee studio that I run from home, its a cosy space that just feels right and makes everyone smile when they come in, my shoots evolve throughout the session and are as individual as my clients, I can be shooting a beautiful portrait in studio one minute, then the light outside decides to do something spectacular and were jumping in the car, and then its tulle skirts in tussock with a breathtaking Riverton sunset as our backdrop.....blessed thanks mother nature!
So I have no idea where 'Portrait' will take me, I have the feeling that this is still only the start of my journey as a portrait photographer Im excited about the future, about the people I will meet and about the beautiful portraits that I have yet to take....

Where do I begin with this beautiful lady, there is a strength and a pride that generates from her, and a joy that is infectious she loves life in the most gentle kind way....thats a super power in our world!!! I will forever love this shoot for the joy of spending time with Iri (aka miss Beyonce) and for being proud of myself for capturing such a beautiful spirit.

Finally I get to launch Portrait by Lee Swann.....something that I am very proud of, previously my images were showcased as 'Couture by T&L', Portrait is a personal path that I have chosen to take with my photography to develop my unique style in capturing beautiful portraits. This page follows my journey as a portrait photographer, the behind the scenes, the trials, the fun and the people I meet along the way. The images on this page are my interpretation of how I see the amazing women I photograph. My images are not just about beauty, they are about strength, inspiration, joy and empowerment.....and my shoots are about doing something that is just fun and that makes you feel amazing.
