New Zealand is considered to have one of the highest standards of living in the world yet there is an ever growing problem of people going hungry. This is not just amongst the unemployed but also the newly termed "working poor". Over the last month I have been photographing the amazing work that takes place at Just Zilch, a supermarket of sorts with a difference. This is a place anyone can go and receive food to eat that would have otherwise been thrown away by local food businesses. The food they collect is perfectly edible but often hasn't sold within a specific time frame. Local businesses donate their excess food and amazing people from our community here in the Manawatu donate their time and effort to sort the food and stock the shelves of Just Zilch so that no one in our community needs to go without food. The Beauty of Just Zilch is that all are treated as equal, No one is required to prove their need for the food, but rather it is freely given as all gifts should be. Just Zilch = Dignity for all. God bless you all - The Businesses who donate and volunteers who give of their time - this is an incredible work that you are doing for our people.
