Well, I am guessing websites are not the done thing any longer and everyone relies on social media?
Anyway, I still see value in a good online catalogue, so, after years of paying extortionate fees on Photoshelter, being restricted on what I could and couldn’t do, poor engagement and being frustrated at the ever increasing fees I made a site from scratch.
I only used notepad and copilot for this and I am no ‘web designer’… I was told to be nice to copilot but I’ve got to admit, I did lose my temper with it a few times!

Copilot is so smart but also soooo stupid at the same time! Anyway, link in the bio and story!
It has been a good winter job! There’s still lots to do and a bunch of images I plan to add over the next few weeks.
Let me know if you see anything stupidly wrong!

Super pretty Bluenose out in force at the moment. These juveniles bear little resemblance to the highly valued deep water adult fish.
Often present on flotsam at this time of year before they head to deep water for the rest of their life.
Up until a few years ago, this fish had not been photographed in its natural environment in NZ..

‘You’re not from around ‘ere’.

Parablennius tasmanianus- Tasmanian Blenny, hanging out at Pukenui Wharf in northern NZ, well out side its native range. Presumably having hitched a ride over the Tasman Sea somehow.
I saw over a dozen on the dive this morning. Cheeky looking little thing!

A few more of the stunning crayfish from New South Wales, Blue Mountains.
Note the ectosymbionts- a Temnocephalan worms on almost all the crayfish encountered.
Stunning crayfish. Well worth the significant walk/ climb in and out.

I love a good adventure to get a picture!

A Mosaic Moray at Middle Arch on a night dive this weekend. The Mosaic Moray is commonly seen during the day, but as with many fish, its behaviour changes at night. This one was very confident and kept approaching me.
The mosaic moray is one of several commonly seen the Knights and is arguably the most impressive with a good set of needle like teeth!
Out night diving with at the Poor Knights Marine Reserve.
