TREASURED MOMENTS DIGITISED AND REVIVED
Many people have boxes of old 8mm and Super 8 films stored away and the old projector has long since broken. These films potentially hold precious family footage, or maybe they even contain valuable information about local or national history. Cleaning, scanning and digitising the film is the only sure way to save the footage.

It was once thought that film was timeless and indestructable. However, aging film may crack, curl or ripple, and this is a sure sign that the film is deteiorating. Some film may even have mould resulting in cracked, mosaic-like patches visible on the footage. Unfortunately mould can cause permanent damage to the film and can’t be cleaned away. However, we find that mould is rare and most of the films we receive can be saved.

The old digitising methods include projecting the film onto a screen or wall, then capturing the footage on a video camera. However, the recent technology of frame by frame scanning captures more detail and removes all those irregularities and flickering that an old projector may cause. During the editing stage we can stabalise the footage and enhance the brightness, contrast, colour and sharpness. The resulting footage is more stable, clearer and brighter. It’s like the film has been given a new lease of life.
