Due to me moving on, I have decided to host a sale to say thank you. For every two photos you buy (of either size), you will get two photos (of either size) completely free! Use code: byefornow
This sale will last for the rest of January and some of February. After that, I will be deleting a sizeable amount of the earlier galleries, so get in while you still can!

Check here for photos if you saw me out and about!

As the year has finished and the next has began, I would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who supported my business in 2021, but also in all the years previous. As most do, my business started as a hobby, taking photos of my friends and sister and their ponies. It grew, and as I started to get better, my passion grew into a business.
I started my business at 14, I am 18 now. I have other passions that are calling to me that, at this point, are priority. I am so thankful to everyone that has ever bought photos, shared my images (legally that is!), shared my posts, spread the word about me, asked me to do events for them, advertised my business and to anyone who ever gave me a lift to an event. My biggest thanks goes to my supporters that have been there since day one, my best friends, Meg Coakley and Meila Picard Equestrian for always using my images and letting me explore and experiment. For being up for anything I put forward. I also thank Nic Picard for pushing me to charge what I was worth. I share a thanks to my parents, who, for a long time, took me to events because I didn’t have a license. I couldn’t have to any of this without these people, they are the reason I started and their support kept me going.
This business has been one of my proudest achievements and I have loved every minute of it. It has taught me things I wouldn’t have learnt anywhere else and I am thankful that I got the privilege to do it.
So again, thank you all for your support, this is not a goodbye forever, more of a see you soon!

Reposting this again, because I think it deserves to be heard again. I am happy to arrange a deal for event groups, but my work takes too much time and effort to be given away for free.

Photo credit WEIRDLY does not pay the bills.

This an open letter on behalf of ALL photographers in NZ
.
It is a NZ culture to want everything for nothing.
I want to state firstly the personal sales have been amazing this year, I don’t think I’ve found a single stolen watermarked photo online, and hardly any from fellow photographers either.
Five years ago, stolen watermarked photos littered social media and it was just an accepted theft. But the culture has changed for the better and I couldn’t be happier, it makes everything worthwhile.
HOWEVER,
Something I deal with a lot this season (4 times in the last few days, and countless times in the last year.) is big companies, news and media outlets emailing me for photos to accompany their articles and advertisements and being surprised that photo credit is not enough to pay for this?

A lot of these are BIG international companies too, and they are shocked when I send them an invoice.

Photographers work bloody hard.
“Oh but that photo took less than a second to take…”

My weekend just been, started at around 7.30am finishing yesterdays website updates , 8am in the ring, shooting until 4/5pm with only small gaps in between classes to get press release photos out - then I edit and upload photos until around 9.30pm … While I love what I do, and I really do, I cant justify to do it for free, Just like you expect to be paid for your daily job or skillset, regardless of how much you enjoy it.

Its never ending frustration from big companies expecting beautiful high resolution images to accompany their stories and adverts when they expect it for free, or worse, you tell them the cost and they argue why the image they want isn’t worth that much, or barter for a better deal.
Too often the creative parties of these deals are significantly under valued.

Don’t get me wrong though, I am super happy to work with companies and arrange mutually beneficial deals, I’m all for small business helping other small businesses.

Support your photographers, support your small businesses and support your friends businesses.

Nelson A&P, what a polar opposite two days. Saturday showed sun and warmer temps, while Sunday was wet and windy. Good job anyone who was out there today, you were probably braver than me, who went home half way through, as I was soaked to the bone and bitterly cold. That does mean there are no working hunter/hunter jumping as I did not get over there. There is also no first ridden unfortuanately. Enjoy! If you have any questions, feel free to ask and if you knew of anyone there, please tag, it goes a long way!
