This photo was taken in a mountain village in Nepal almost four years ago.

I’ve been thinking about Nepal and its people with a heavy heart as I watch the devastation and loss unfolding in the news.

I remember the warmth, resilience and quiet spirituality I encountered there, and the people and places that left a lasting impression on me.
Some places stay with you long after you leave.

Thinking of everyone affected and holding them in my thoughts 🤍

One from the archives. This photo takes me back to 2016 when I was working as a press photographer and landed the assignment to photograph Sir Sam Neill during his visit to Nelson for a Q&A following the release of Hunt for the Wilderpeople. I feel incredibly lucky to have had the chance to meet and photograph such a genuine Kiwi legend.

A memorable moment during the interview was when the journalist asked the all-important question: “Marmite or Vegemite?” 😂 Such a classic Kiwi question, and so fitting for someone who always wore his love for New Zealand on his sleeve and helped put our little corner of the world on the global stage.

Like so many others, I was deeply saddened to hear of Sam’s passing this week.

This feels like a fitting time to share this photo again and simply say thank you, Sir Sam, for the stories, the laughs, and the incredible legacy you leave behind.

Dear friends, there’s just one more day to take part in the Women of Everest Online Auction. I’m honoured to support this years auction, which is raising funds for the incredible work of the Himalayan Trust. In 2025, their focus is on empowering women and girls in rural Himalayan communities — where access to healthcare and education can still be out of reach.
