A 1965 Nanchang CJ-6 Chinese military trainer Aircraft at Nelson Airport New Zealand today 05/09/26. Conducting a few circuits around the Airport using Runway 02 & Runway 20.
You don't see something like this everyday! Awesome to watch & the sound of that radial piston engine sounds amazing ✈️🤩

Air Chathams Saab 340B operating a Rugby charter service today, 22/08/26.
Arriving into Nelson Airport New Zealand this afternoon from Auckland to pick up the Southland Stags team & flew them to Dunedin this evening🏉
Air New Zealand used the Saab 340 Aircraft at Nelson many years ago but was operated by Air Nelson. The first one arrived back in September 1990 and the final schedule flight took place in September 2007 concluding 17 years of service with the National Airline.
Always exciting when an uncommon bird shows up!

Australia based Bombardier Challenger 604 corporate jet at Nelson Airport New Zealand on Monday afternoon (11/05/26). She arrived from Brisbane via Auckland. Potentially her first visit to Nelson as well!

Fighter Jets NZ L-39 Albatros jets flew into Nelson Airport New Zealand for the second time on Friday & Saturday from Wānaka to refuel before heading back home to Tauranga after attending Warbirds Over Wānaka Airshow earlier this month.

No.48 and 88 (blue, dark grey L-39's arrived on Friday (24/04/26)

No.28 and 68 (blue/yellow, green L-39's arrived on Saturday (25/04/26).
Was lucky enough to see them again!✈️
