Decided to have a crack & go out on a limb & have a dabble in the world of photography awards, entered the New Zealand Amateur Photography Awards this year, albeit very last minute!
Entered 2 images in the Photo Journalism division & came out with 2 Highly Commended & some valuable feedback.

The longest running annual Charity Rugby match in the Southern Hemisphere took place on Saturday 1 August 2026, in Methven.
Rakaia Gorge Musterers vs Methven Rugby Charity Match
For 69 years this event has taken place & is more than just a game, its about communities coming together & supporting an incredible cause. This year all funds raised, in excess of $10,000, have been donated to Hato Hone St John. An incredible effort made possible by the generous donations & support of local businesses & organisers.
A stunning day for rugby once again with a strong supporting crowd, the Rakaia Gorge Musterers coming out victorious (29) against Methven Rugby NZ (27) in a great game!

What a close fought game coming down to the wire & finishing off being a narrow win with Rakaia sneaking across the line ahead.

The packed crowd for this day of finals was phenomenal to see, loads of club colours being proudly displayed on a beautiful Mid Canterbury sunny winters day!

FINALS RUGBY!

Quick post to say the rest are coming...I may have taken ALOT!!

Privileged to have been sideline this season when possible to capture the Methven Rugby NZ teams & although Saturday wasn't our day, the games were strongly contested & great to 📸

How good is it to see that Club rugby in Mid Canterbury Rugby Union is so strongly supported, what a crowd!!

Watters Cup - Round 6 Senior Men
Saturday 11 July 2026 Methven 2.30pm
What a beautiful sunny winters day for the final round robin match between Methven & Rakaia, with a stunning backdrop of the snow clad Southern Alps.
A tight match that went down to the wire with Rakaia coming out on top by a smidge, 36-34 in the final minutes of the game.
Roll on next weekend at the Ashburton Showgrounds for the final, where these 2 teams go head to head again for the Watters Cup.
