The aim of MUSTER is to be a cheerleader for rural life, and to share the beauty of the high country with you through photography. Photography by Anna Munro, nee Anna Jaine.

'I had the best upbringing on sheep and beef farms 'Cren Lea' in Carew, and later 'Cravendale' in Mt Somers. I have always loved all things creative! 🎹 🎶🎸📸 🎨

These days I live in Hawea with my husband, Mitch, and two spoilt

dogs (farm dogs + couch dwellers 🐕). My work is split between shepherding at Ardgour Station, and physio-ing in Wanaka. I am lucky enough to head to Lake Heron Station for musters when they are desperate for numbers 😂🐏, and throw the camera in for each trip. First lambs and calf hit the ground today 😍

A beauty set of triplets and a midget heifer calf!

I see we're forecast to get a cold southerly change tomorrow and Thursday so the rest of them will probably pop their babies out bang in the middle of that 🙄 ...That glorious drop in air pressure during an incoming storm which often triggers labour in pregnant animals. Such a wonderful phenomenon!!

Anyway feeling grateful to be off to a good start! All the best to all farmers out there for a kind lambing season 🐏

Isabel and I on the drafting gate!
We took out the early ewes who are due to lamb this week...and set stocked them onto clover to optimise lactation. Great to see the girls in good condition after a kind winter.

Way Hey Hey!

We've decided to get Halter on the cows here at Cravendale!

Very excited for this change and would love to hear any tips and tricks from sheep and beef farmers out there who have made the shift! The collars arrive in November and we will pop them onto the girls at calf marking.

Cravendale has a good chunk of extensive hill country and we're hoping the colllars will improve grazing management and help with feed utilisation up there, as well as exclusion from the Gawler Stream and Limestone Creek.
