The aim of MUSTER is to be a cheerleader for rural life, and to share the beauty of the high country with you through photography. Photography by Anna Munro, nee Anna Jaine.

'I had the best upbringing on sheep and beef farms 'Cren Lea' in Carew, and later 'Cravendale' in Mt Somers. I have always loved all things creative! 🎹 πŸŽΆπŸŽΈπŸ“Έ 🎨

These days I live in Hawea with my husband, Mitch, and two spoilt

dogs (farm dogs + couch dwellers πŸ•). My work is split between shepherding at Ardgour Station, and physio-ing in Wanaka. I am lucky enough to head to Lake Heron Station for musters when they are desperate for numbers πŸ˜‚πŸ, and throw the camera in for each trip. I hope you get a boost out of these photos of our stunning country, and the people and hounds who keep it ticking over. All photos available for purchase at www.musterannamunro.co.nz

Lake Heron Station Winter Muster ❄️

Thanks to the station crew for having me along to muster the wethers up the Rakaia for winter.

Isabel and I had an awesome day out with Katja and Philip 🐏
A fresh start to the day and then the classic high country norwest blast once we turned up the valley!

The merino wethers travel up the Rakaia and over Jagged Stream where they spend the winter months. Good luck up there fellas!

What a day to take the wethers up the Rakaia yesterday!

Views to fill the heart and lift the spirit πŸ’›

We got in before the rain hit but there were some good old gulpfuls of norwest wind to take in!

How lucky am I to be one of three sisters πŸ’›

We have taken our own paths through the years, but always there is a return to home and each other.

Funny how we've all gone back to farming. We share a love for the land.

The simple ways; the rhythm of the seasons, a norwest wind in the pine trees, dusty days in the yards, pulling on gumboots on a frosty morning, tired bods at night. The freedom of the hills. We like those sorts of things.

Growing up we shared rooms, still share the odd bath (most definitely "NOT NORMAL" we've been told by many creeped-out friends 🀣) and toothbrushes (refer to previous comment). We all had a similar questionable taste in fashion and love for a holey, ripped singlet. We have the same laugh. We can all be rather impatient. We like to get s**t done.

We know each other pretty inside out. I have two sisters who are also my two best friends...How 'bout that.

In a month one sister moves back to Canterbury and we'll all be living within 75km of each other. Now I reckon that is something special! Secret commune vibes.

So grateful for my Jaine Sisters ❀️

Autumn at Cravendale...πŸ‚

We've had a beautiful spell of bluebird days coming out of such a wet summer...fantastic all round for stock and humans!

Lots of farm happenings and life with two wee ones is certainly full-on, so there's never much of a dull moment! The sheep and beef prices this year have been so strong which is awesome.

I have found it on the whole great being a Mum of two, but am definitely a lot more off-the-farm! Still get out most days but some days are a disaster πŸ˜‚
