Young man with cigarette. I’m pretty certain he was selling bogus dvds. He seemed nice enough and was keen to take us upstairs where he had more stashed.

There were a few delicacies to try however after stomaching a few treats I reverted to just taking photos.

Just like athletes the young men and woman of the 161 and 163 Battery Gunners have to train on a regular basis. Doesn’t matter what time of year or the weather they are in the elements refining the skills of their trade. An absolute honour to be on exercise with these soldiers. It’s not all about fires. Matamata Fire Brigade volunteers are also present at car accidents more often than not. Also, when the weather turns to sh*te they are on call to remove fallen trees and clean up debris often when the storm is at its max.

Too good an opportunity to miss. A little bit of downtime while responding to a car vs car. Thankfully no one was harmed other than a few mental scars. Men and women of the Matamata Volunteer Fire Brigade never miss a call out. True heroes.
