Last night, overlooking a frozen Lake Murray in the Mackenzie Basin.

There's been a lot of snow and cold conditions here in Tekapo. After the storms clear the stars look better than ever.

Mccauley Hut

Last night I ventured out into the edges of the Mackenzie Basin wilderness. New Zealand's rugged high-country valleys have a lot to offer, including very cold temperatures. This 14 Bunk Hut is a prime location for an overnight getaway.

There's nothing like standing in a valley filled with snow, listening to nothing but your own heartbeart. This night the Galactic Centre of the Milky Way shone brightly and cast shadows onto the blanket of snow surrounding me.
