With the tourism peak season coming to an end just as the Milky May season is coming into full swing, it's been nice to have had a few more nights out under the stars doing what I love the most!

Here's just one of the many shots I've taken in the Mackenzie over the past few weeks.
This shot was just after the heavy snowfall at the beginning of May.
In the shot, you can see the central band of Milky-Way rising and strong green atmospheric airglow above the mountains to the east (left 2/3).
In the south (right 1/3), the Aurora Australis also made an appearance.

I thought it was about time to draw a bit of attention to this lovely image, taken during the May 11th 2024 Geomagnetic storm.

It is a single frame drawn from a timelapse sequence I posted earlier in the year.

I've recently entered this image into two separate photography competitions, and it has been recognized in both.

These photo competitions are firstly the Mackenzie Region Photography Competition, hosted by Mountain House Creative.

Fantastic view on Air New Zealand CHCH to AKLD a couple weeks ago for the Canterbury West Coast Travel Showcase, I am always humbled by this beautiful land, our Island and all her riverbraids and veins of life, colours of nature, flows and peaks, menories from the two huge earthquakes we have had in recent times which you can see the scars in the landscape from above, so resilient Canterbury. We are so very lucky to live here, and I am so grateful for all the things to come from this trip 😀

My happy place I have spent many dark nights here over the past 8 years and been lucky to share it with lots of you, as I tell people it's probably one of the safest places to be in the World in the dark!
