'Parched Pastures'

It’s not very often when you go up to Te Mata Peak that you see a sunrise that is less spectacular than another. Mt Erin stole the show with this amazing view. I was in awe of the dry grass that continued on as far as the eye could see. Despite rain forecast for the next few days. I don’t think this will quench the thirst of these rolling hills.

Our little bubble is getting bigger.

We shared the happy news with our family and friends late last year. We're all very excited, and know Arthur will be a fantastic and helpful big brother.

I have been meaning to share this news and update with new photos and content, but with busy family life, work taking over and then this COVID-19 business. Has meant my photography has had to take a bit of a break. Hope to be out in the cold/dark/mornings/evenings capturing some of the amazing sights that Hawke's Bay puts on soon.

Also more Splash photos on their way!

'The last light'

I was taking in the sunset sights from the shoreline of Ahuriri Estuary (Pandora Pond), just before Christmas. When the sky lit up like this for a few moments with the setting sun. Shortly after this photo was taken, the colours in the sky disappeared. The smoke and haze that gave the sunset this colour had also taken it away.

'The rising red sun'

Smoke and dust particles from the Australian bush fires have made it over to our sky giving us some interesting sunsets.
However I wasn't expecting much from today's cloudy and overcast morning. What I saw, was far from it, with a bright red sun bursting through the clouds and illuminating the sky.

'Good morning Waimarama'

A very early start last Sunday, 4:15am alarm followed by a 45 minute drive to Waimarama beach. But as you can see a well worth it trip to see that sky behind Te Motu-o-Kura (Bare Island). This was my first trip out to Waimarama for a sunrise photo. Why I haven't been here sooner I don't know, but I know it definitely won't be my last.

'Triple Red Splash'

It feels like its been a while since I've posted one of my water splash photos. I've been playing around with a few things recently. Such as a new lighting setup, I love the detail I'm now able to capture in the collision as the water spreads out. I've included a close up image of this in the comments.

Maraetotara Side Falls

After photographing the iconic main waterfall, I decided to capture the smaller side waterfall that flows down to meet up with the main waterfall.

Although I was the only one there at the time, it is a well known and busy spot for people to cool off during the hot summer months.
