Practice ~ Signal Hill.

Practice got underway under blue skies for tomorrow’s XCO race - round one of the Continental Series.

Glad I managed to get a hint of dust in one or two images… because I might not get a chance tomorrow.

Awesome to see such great support from a bunch of athletes. Always super special to have such talent here in .

Images from the 2023 Linger & Die MTB race - Phil's Finale.

Some rare Alexandra rain fall kept it interesting, but failed to dampen the spirits of all those who made the annual pre-season pilgrimage to the unforgiving hills of Matangi Station MTB.

Local lad Bradley Harris took line honours yet again, while Winnifred Goldsbury travelled south from Christchurch to lead the ladies.

But really, we were all there to celebrate Phil Oliver, and his massive contribution to all things Mountain Biking. Cheers Phil, we know thinking about the future might sometimes feel like a blind lap of Glass Barbie - but hopefully this weekend reinforced the community that are all behind you.

Highlights from the Dirt Town Queens. Enduro…

It's hard to put into words how special this (not so) little event is!
So I've tried to convey it with a few images instead.

Huge thanks to the Dirt Town Queens - especially Pez and Ronnie - for the good times.

I'll upload a whole bunch more images for the riders this evening, but for now, enjoy the highlights of one very rad day.

Rise |
Following pro triathletes around the Challenge Wanaka course is hard work. They are just so damn quick. Add to that traffic; changing light; the spread between athletes; and it makes for a busy day. Timing is everything.
Wait too long in one spot, or make one too many stops, and you’ll miss the classic frames.
I missed the two leaders through this spot, because I made a bad call to stop for an average shot. Luckily, my trusty motorcycle rider, Dave, pulled out all the stops to get me here just in time to see rise out of the Hawea lake front.
All good learning to hopefully refine timing and angles for next year!
P.S. who can spot the lazy spot fix in this image? Damn road cones... 🤷🏼‍♀️

** NZSS MTB CHAMPS | HIGH RES IMAGES FOR A GOOD CAUSE **

After an epic weekend of kids on bikes at the Cycling New Zealand Schools National Champs, the boys and I have now posted all images at the links below; check the text in the watermark on the image to see who to contact.

Of course, as well as posting them on Facebook and Insta, we want to be able to supply you all with high resolution files, without watermarks, so that you can remember the awesome time you had shredding Mountain Biking Otago's trails in the hills of Dunedin.

This year, we wanted to help build on the amazing community spirit we felt throughout the event.
So, rather than taking payment ourselves, we would like all proceeds from our hours snapping away on the hill to go to a good cause.

As hard as we try to take every precaution when out on the trails, we know our sport is one that carries a level of risk.
We want to show our aroha and support to those riders who have suffered SCI's and have been doing it tough recently. So, we are supporting the scientists that could one day help riders in a similar situation, through the amazing work of Catriona Williams and The CatWalk Trust.

If you would like a quality copy of one or more of the images that Kane Fleury, Matt Wood or I have captured over the weekend, simply message us (Facebook or Insta) with:
1) A screen grab of the images you would like, and
2) A screen grab showing you've made the appropriate donation to The CatWalk Trust.
It's $10 an image, i.e. 5 images = $50 donation.
