🏄‍♂️❄️ Even after nearly 50 years of surfing these freezing, sharky southern waters, it's still an absolute buzz to pull into a tube at my favourite local wave. 🌊🤙
Moments like these never get old and are what keep me coming back, day after day, chasing just one more memory to add to the storage bank.

The big swell finally cleaned up from Tuesday, giving a lucky few some clean lines at St Clair under sunny skies ☀️🏄‍♂️
With northwesterly winds it felt more like summer than a Dunno's winter's day 🌬️😎
The forecast's looking promising for the weekend too 👀👌 Roll on a few more sessions at the local! 🏄‍♂️🔥

Wasn't just Wellington getting all the big waves today! 🌊
St Clair Beach in Dunedin was serving up some massive walls of whitewater as this huge Southern Ocean swell hammered the coast. While it looked impressive from shore, there wasn't a surfer mad enough to paddle out and tackle it in the cold southerly conditions. 🥶
Definitely one of those days where watching from the car park seemed like the smart option! 😆

A bit of a green wave kinda day out at the Spit today 🌊☀️
Sun breaking through and backlighting the waves made it look pretty magic. Around 25+ surfers out enjoying some fun, nicely shaped runners… even if it was a bit soft.

God that was a bit too close just now out at St Clair Point 😬
Wish that shark would bu**er off! Fin popped up less than a metre from me as I was climbing back on my board after bailing on a bigger wide set… then a massive splash straight after only about 5m inside of me.
Think it might be time for a few land-based jobs for a while 🦈🏄‍♂️

Been a busy few days yarning to TV and radio about all the recent shark sightings 😅
Hopefully the solid swell over the last few days has sent the shark packing and we can get back to a cruisy weekend of smaller waves at St Clair 🤞
Reckon we’ve all had a gutsful of shark sightings 😂

The bell usually stands silent for months on end, but it has been rung four times over the past two weeks.
