When Stacey asked me if I could photograph her birth we were both a little nervous about it, I had never photographed a birth before and understandably, she was nervous for obvious reasons.

Stacey had recently seen a photo of a baby attached to the placenta and knew that she wanted a photo of her baby like that so after the birth with the help of her magnificent midwives, (Wanaka Midwives) we managed to set up this shot.

Baby Emerson....

I have absolutely LOVED doing Autumn Sessions this year! The leaves may have gone from the trees but the ground is full of them at the moment which still makes a great backdrop for photos like this one from today's session...

I'm in the process of learning how to photograph newborns better. It has been an area I've struggled with since I first tried back in my High School Days for a project I was working on. I'm gaining knowledge from the MANY mistakes I've made and slowly building confidence so that hopefully one day soon I can say YES, I'M A NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHER! I appreciate all the wonderful families that choose me to photograph their beautiful babies knowing that it is an area I need to practice and improve HEAPS on! This is one of the photo's from a recent session taken in Dunedin...
