Dream fish. Favourite lure. 45 kg of Topwater Reef Gangster to start your morning š„
Months down the track and this one still doesnāt feel real.
The casts, the blowups, heartbreaks and memories that came before this beast were just all part of the plan.
With GT master Ed Nicholas giving us his word this morning to have a few casts alongside our legendary guests. And seasoned veteran Graeme Forrer in my corner and on the helmā¦ anything was possible.
Nothing would quite prepare us for the second drift of the morning. First cast. INSTANT MEGA blowup and miss followed by absolute silence as Uncle and I both looked each other in the eye and said, āOhh bruu, ITāS ON!!ā
I remember being so tense on the next cast. Purely because I knew exactly what would happen next. And sure enough. !!BOOMFA!!
A slick operation from start to finish as we manoeuvred this fish off the reef and eventually onboard. None of it was possible without Uncleās quick and calculated decisions.
One thing I will forever be proud of is the immense care that is taken with these fish. Something that Ed Nicholas has preached for years, inspiring us all. Nothing tops the scene of a big fish swimming off strong after one of these encounters.
No Boundaries Oman is the best Topwater Charter in the world, and I canāt wait to embark on my 3rd season in this magical place. Letās see if we canāt find that 50 š.
