💙 **GOODBYE, PETER CULLEN — GOODBYE, OPTIMUS PRIME** 💙
Some goodbyes hit differently.
This is one of them.
Because Peter Cullen wasn't just the voice of a character I watched as a kid.
**Peter Cullen's voice was part of my childhood.**
I grew up sitting there watching **Transformers**, watching Optimus Prime stand among the Autobots, facing Megatron and the Decepticons, always ready to protect his friends and fight for what was right.
Back then, I was just a kid watching a cartoon.
I didn't realise I was watching something that would stay with me for the rest of my life.
I didn't realise that the voice coming through that television would become one of those sounds that instantly takes you back — back to being a kid, back to those days when the biggest worry in the world was whether the Autobots were going to win the next battle.
**Optimus Prime was my hero.**
And Peter Cullen was the man who made him real.
He didn't just give Optimus a voice.
**He gave him character. He gave him strength. He gave him compassion. He gave him a soul.**
And as I've grown older, I've realised just how many lessons were hidden inside those stories.
Optimus taught us about leadership.
He taught us to stand up for people who couldn't stand up for themselves.
He taught us about loyalty, sacrifice, courage and doing the right thing even when it wasn't the easy thing.
But perhaps one of the most powerful lessons was simply this:
**“Be strong enough to be gentle.”**
That stayed with me.
Because Optimus showed us that being strong didn't mean being cruel. Being a leader didn't mean demanding obedience. Having power didn't mean abusing it.
It meant using that strength to protect.
To care.
To help.
To lead.
And the battle between Optimus and Megatron wasn't just about Autobots and Decepticons.
To a kid watching, it was the eternal battle between good and evil.
Between compassion and cruelty.
Between selflessness and selfishness.
Between hope and destruction.
And somehow, Peter Cullen's voice made you believe that no matter how bad things became, **Optimus would always stand back up.**
Then came the movies.
And suddenly, a whole new generation of kids discovered the character that so many of us had grown up loving.
And there he was again.
That voice.
**That unmistakable voice.**
Peter Cullen became Optimus Prime for another generation.
Kids who had never watched the cartoons I grew up with now had their own memories of Prime.
Their own adventures.
Their own hero.
And that's something pretty special.
Because Peter didn't just leave a mark on one generation.
**He left a mark on generations.**
So today, I'm not just saying goodbye to Peter Cullen.
I'm saying goodbye to a piece of my childhood.
To the voice that filled my living room when I was a kid.
To the character I looked up to.
To the memories of sitting there watching the Autobots fight for Cybertron.
To a time in my life that I can never get back, but will always carry with me.
And maybe that's why this goodbye hurts a little more than I expected.
Because when Peter Cullen leaves us, it feels like a tiny piece of that childhood leaves with him.
But I don't want to remember him only with sadness.
I want to imagine something else.
I want to imagine **Cybertron tonight.**
The war is finally over.
The Autobots are standing together.
And somewhere in the distance, they hear that voice again.
Their leader has come home.
**Cybertron has finally got its TRUE PRIME back.** 💙
Optimus is home.
And maybe, after all these years, he can finally rest.
Peter Cullen...

Thank you for the childhood.
Thank you for the Saturday mornings.
Thank you for the battles.
Thank you for the adventures.
Thank you for the memories.
Thank you for giving us a hero.
And thank you for the lessons that came with him — lessons about leadership, courage, kindness, loyalty and caring about others.
You weren't simply the voice of Optimus Prime.
**To so many of us, you WERE Optimus Prime.**
And for a kid who grew up watching him, you always will be.
**“Till we are one.”** 💙
Rest easy, Peter.
Your watch is over.
Your legacy isn't.
**Peter, you will always be the one and only TRUE OPTIMUS PRIME.**

# # # **A SIDE NOTE FOR THE OTHER LEGENDS WE'VE LOST THIS YEAR**
Before I finish, I also want to pay my respects to the many other beloved names we've lost already this year.
People like **Dolly Parton, Chuck Norris and Tim Curry**, along with far too many others to mention.
Each of them brought something special into the world.
They gave us music, laughter, stories, characters, memories and moments that became part of our lives.
Their work reached people they would never meet and stayed with generations they would never know.
And just like Peter Cullen, they leave behind more than a name.
They leave behind a legacy.
They leave behind the memories we made while listening to their songs, watching their films, following their careers and sharing their work with the people we love.
It feels like we have said goodbye to far too many legends this year.
But while their lives may have ended, the joy they gave us has not.
They will continue to live on through the music, films, performances, characters and memories they left behind.
So this is for all of them too.
**Thank you for the memories. Thank you for the laughter. Thank you for the inspiration. Thank you for being part of our lives.**
May every one of these legends rest peacefully.
You may be gone, but you will never be forgotten. 💙
