3 weeks on Paros 🇬🇷
We made it to Paros, our little island refuge too far south for the coming winter to chill our bones.
The island is all rock, clear water, white buildings with windows and doors in rich shades of the waves. Its hilly and steep in many places, but only takes 3-4 hours to circumnavigate by bike. Its hard to imaging how busy it must be in the off season.
We had rushed here in time for Richi to start house sitting for a family friend, which would see him through winter. Oli and I had absolutely no plans. Both absolutely wrecked we spent the first week in a little appartnement rental doing not much other than eating, sleeping, resting.
Richi's parents then arrived in his VW van, bringing us much needed winter supplies and a trailer we had ordered for the ever-growing Tuatara. We also moved out of the rental and into Richis van. I dont know how we got so lucky to meet a family so generous.
It took one more week for Hannah to become restless and anouther for Oli to agree it was time to move on. Now mid November, we somehow had to ride all the way back across to western Europe before Febuary... in a european winter which neither of us had ever experienced.
Its wasnt the typical summer island experiance but we will never forget it. The child versions of ourselves would never have believed we had made it all that way by bike 🚵♂️🚵♀️
Ps. There are no grapes that taste as good as the ones on Paros 🍇
