These images illustrate my ongoing study of different pottery and firing techniques. This time I am exploring Pit Firing and Raku Pottery . They are both traditional and contemporary ceramic firing techniques that produce unique and often unpredictable surface effects on pottery. Thanks to Mikyung Jang for sharing here knowledge with me.

This image, a finalist in the Zonta art award a while back, is a tribute to my mother, who worked tirelessly so I could be here and have a better life. It’s also for the countless women who came before me – those who tirelessly cleared the path, their hands shaping not just daily life but the very foundation of our communities. It was created on a special anniversary of women’s suffrage, honoring their immense labor, quiet strength, and unwavering determination that ultimately secured the right to vote. Their efforts laid the groundwork for the freedoms we cherish today.
