AUTUMN || NZ 🍂

Autumn in New Zealand brings a quiet kind of magic, as hillsides and streets shift from summer greens to rich shades of amber, crimson, and gold.

It’s a season that feels both calm and vivid, where the air sharpens, the crowds thin, and the landscape seems to slow down just enough to be fully appreciated.

The image that started an obsession….

At the time, I was only the 2nd person to have ever captured the Aurora Australis from Auckland and at that time, I had no idea about the chain reaction this would set off in my life!

From a near impossible dream to capture the southern lights this far north, I headed out after I got the KP7 alert.

Halfway through the night I checked my timelapse and BOOM… as clear as day, the red pillars of the lights imprinted onto my camera! It was wild!

What a moment it became and then the ensuing media frenzy on my achievement. Little did I know that this single moment would see me travel the world in search of aurora and become one of this biggest passions and subjects of mine to capture.

With better camera tech and knowledge, I am looking forward to many more experiences capturing what I consider to be the best of nature’s phenomenons!

The origin or mode of formation of something; the coming into being of what did not exist before.

This is the quiet ignition of something not yet named, the moment possibility gathers itself and chooses to exist. It is the first breath after stillness, the unseen shift before form, where chaos softens into intention and something new begins without needing permission or perfection.

There was a time the noise got close, close enough to dull the edge, to make me question what was mine. Even the familiar turned uncertain, and not everything that stood beside me was for me.

But some things don’t disappear. They wait.

So this is not just a beginning, it’s a return. Sharper, clearer, wholeheartedly mine again.
