Everyone waits for summer

But winter light in the Waikato does something that summer can’t. It’s softer. More considered. It wraps around people differently - like it’s not in a hurry.

The photos I always come back to are never really the perfectly posed ones.

It’s the one where someone was mid-laugh. Where someone had sauce on their chin. Where the light was doing something extraordinary over ordinary people doing ordinary things.

Those are the ones that stop you, years later, in the middle of doing something else.

That’s what I’m trying to make when I pick up my camera.

You know that feeling when you scroll through your phone looking for a specific photo and you find 47 almost-identical shots of basically nothing?

Yeah! Me too.

Here’s what I wish someone had told me when I was little: photographs that matter aren’t accidents. They’re investments.

I’ve met a few couples who nearly didn’t book a photographer for their wedding. “We’ll just get Uncle Dave to do it with his new camera.”

Three years later, their walls are adorned with my images. The ones they cry happily over. The ones their kids will treasure.

Your story deserves more than Uncle Dave’s camera (sorry Dave).

2025 was a year of connections.

Families trusted me with their stories. Couples said “I-do” in front of my lens. Newborns fell asleep in their parent’s arms whilst I clicked away and motivated business’ trusted me to showcase their brand.

And honestly, I’m still pinching myself that this is my job.

2026 is already filling up but there’s still space for your story. Whether it’s your vows, your growing family or finally getting everyone in the frame together…..I’m here for it.
