I’ve just got back home after taking pictures at the Otago v Wellington game in Dunedin this afternoon. I know it cost a lot of money, but days like today make us all grateful we’ve got a roof on the stadium. Here are a quick selection of the ones I’ve looked through so far, and I’ll try and get the rest done over the next couple of days.

I went to Dunedin today to take some photos of the division 2 colts final between University White and Alhambra Union at the University Oval.
It was a tight game, but Uni came away with the cup in an unbeaten season.

I was having a sort out on an old hard drive, and came across some Topp Cup photos from 2015 at the Balclutha showgrounds. There’s also a few from a Clutha v Valley game, I’m guessing from around the same time.

I was lucky enough to be at the Otago v Canterbury NPC game this afternoon at Forsyth Barr Stadium, with the Ranfurly Shield on the line.
As with any game between these two provinces, there was plenty of passion on display, with both sides giving all they had.
It was a close game in the end, but congratulations go to Canterbury, coming away with the victory (and the Shield) 19-15.

Otago county took on Southland Metro in Milton this afternoon. Unfortunately I got there late in the first half and missed Southland attacking towards the sun (you really need the sun behind you when you’re taking photos), so that explains the lack of photos of them!
OC must have got off to a good start, but the visitors reeled them back in, and then in the second half they pulled clear, coming away with a well deserved win 61-28.

Big River Country took on University in the Otago premiere women’s semifinal yesterday on a cold day in Balclutha. BRC played some nice rugby to grind out the win 33-17, and face Dunedin in the final at Tahuna Park next weekend.

This afternoon in Balclutha, the Otago Countrywide final took place between Upper Clutha and Clutha. Despite the three and a half hour trip to get here, the visitors hit their straps from the start, scoring two early tries. Clutha put some nice phases of play together and eventually got over the chalk themselves, but that was the last points they’d get..
Upper Clutha were just too good on the day, scoring plenty more tries, coming away with a well deserved victory 57-5.

Clutha hosted Heriot yesterday in Balclutha in one of the semi finals. It was a close run thing, but Clutha managed to hold on to take the win 43-39. They face West Taieri next week, in a replay of last years final.
