Paparahi 50th Anniversary of the Faculty of Architecture and Innovative Design was a wonderful celebration and it was an honour to help mark the occasion by creating a short documentary film bringing together the voices of some of the amazing women who have graduated from this school and reflect on what it can mean to have an architecture degree.

Ngā Mokopuna, the new marae wharekai at VUW Te Herenga Waka is aspiring to Seven Petal Certification as part of the Living Building Challenge. Tennent Brown Architects Ltd also designed Pā Reo in Otaki for Te Wānanga o Raukawa which has just become the second full living LBC project in Aotearoa.

Featuring interviews with Ewan Brown, Hugh Tennent, Rawinia Higgins, Caitlyn Lee, Alison Thirkettle-Tawharu, Jason Cordes, Jasmin Pakura, Kevan McGuinness, the documentary attempts to convey some of the story from inception to completion.

It's been an interesting time lately being on the other side of the camera and being vulnerable on Seven Sharp and also for Susana Lei'ataua on her RNZ Labour Day show. I had to tell myself all of the things that I tell my clients before I turn the cameras on: you are the one that knows the most about this topic, it doesn't matter what you look like, people connect with people, your story is important, sharing this will help the world,

So while it was frightening to trust someone else to tell my story, Susana Lei'ataua and Michael Holland both approached the story of Flowers From Felix with compassion and integrity.

How we spend time over a long holiday weekend can include visiting our loved ones at cemeteries around the country.
