First round of the North Island Formula Ford (NIFF) was on Sunday.

A single day meeting, 4 championship cars combined with 4 other Historic Formula Fords.

Now Hampton Downs is done, Taupō will be the next meeting for the Fords in about a months time.

Is this the most iconic race car of all time?

This Porsche 917k was flown in from the Porsche museum in Stuttgart, Germany for Porsche new Zealand's 50th anniversary.

Driven by Mexican driver, Pedro Rodgríguez and British racer, Jackie Oliver, the two took this car to victory in the 1971 Spa 1000km race.

The original 917k was on display along side plenty of awesome road cars and a few Cup cars.

The car stands original with it's Gulf Oil livery it represented through out its racing days, interior ware on the dashboard is visible as well as seat and steering wheel ware.

Back on my photos from Muscle car Masters and here’s the Australian Heritage Touring Cars.
A lot of iconic and well known cars from many different eras of racing throughout the years.
This grid brings lots of different cars from different categories together to all race as one.

The main headline of the 2026 Muscle Car Masters was Australia’s Touring Car Masters.

With a record of 33 cars entered, we saw 28 cars take to the track for 4 races including their Saturday night race under lights.

A grid full of great people and many with lots of history in racing.

The thundering roar of these cars taking on the track, means you can hear them the whole way round and also get some awesome photos of the battles constantly playing out through the grid.

Was great to meet a few drivers and teams behind the insane cars that get brought to race.
And also seeing 4 drivers and their wonderfully prepared cars making the trip over from New Zealand for a few meetings with the grid.

Troubles brought on during the night racing meant I was constantly changing settings, resulting in issues with exporting shots and quality getting lost (as seen in a few attached)

Fridays practice for Muscle Car Masters is complete.
amazing quality levels of cars and big grids on display over the weekend with a lot of history.
Tomorrow starts with qualifying sessions at 10:30 Australian followed by day races and night races.
This is my first time shooting at this track, so finding locations is part of the work.
Excited to try learn a new aspect of photography with night races.
