A little technical experimentation behind this one, twisting the camera 360° on a monopod during a long exposure to create that motion effect — No filter

When sailors become their own photographers.

Instead of jumping on board with the 49er squad of the German Sailing Team , I mounted a remote camera directly onto their boom.

Using my professional setup and a remote trigger held by one of the crew, the sailors became the photographers themselves. They chose the moment to fire the shutter when they felt the action was right and even adjusted the camera angle to match their course and capture the best perspective.

The result: Unique images, but more importantly, authentic images from on board capturing the sailing exactly as it happens.

I had always struggled to get the shots I really wanted when going on board myself with an underwater housing. My height, my weight, and simply having another person on board can change the dynamics of a boat, especially when the conditions get light or properly windy.

This setup changed that.

Thanks to the amazing Silicon Underwater Housing by Outex , my camera stayed completely dry while the sailors could sail without having to accommodate a photographer on board.

This selection is just a little insight into what is possible when you let the sailors take control of the camera.

A little holiday in my “home” marina in Lauterbach, Wasserwelten followed by a spectacular SailGP event, with thousands of fans experiencing some of the closest and fastest racing on the water.

In short: My favourite island delivered once again!

Long before I knew photography would one day become my profession, I spent many years here working as a sailing instructor.

A huge thank you to my team, SailGP and Wasserwelten for making this time “home” so special!

Dear Wimbledon ,

It was an absolute honour to work at this year’s Championships once again.

A huge thank you to “our” incredible team of talented photographers, editors, and everyone who worked tirelessly behind the scenes. A special thank you to Thomas Lovelock , .thompson16 , and sarah_spensley for running the show.

I also want to mention Bob Martin , who was not with us this year and was deeply missed. Get well soon, Matey!

This selection of images focuses less on the action and more on the emotion that makes this year’s Wimbledon so special to me. The first photo is of our entire team, a group of true legends whom I am proud to have worked alongside.

Until next year!
