So, I have a confession to make... despite being a photographer for more than 15 years, I have very few photos of myself. You see, in truth I am just like you. I, too, am guilty of shying away from the camera. From a lack of make up, to being 'too tired', needing a haircut or wanting to lose 10 kgs... Need I go on?

The people who love me don't care about those things. They just want reminders of a loved one, and I am lucky to be loved by some pretty fantastic people!

While we were on holiday, I surprised these friends of mine with a photoshoot. I hadn't planned it, but I had a camera bag with me, and we had a free evening. When I asked if they'd like a photoshoot, they jumped at the chance. They had just adopted their second dog, the beautiful greyhound in the pictures. I did have to stop calling it a photoshoot though - the term caused a bit of anxiety. So we called it a few pictures at the beach with friends. Lovely, no?

Good Morning from Auckland, I hope you're having a fantastic week!

I've been having a bit of a think about how I can create a darkroom space in my garage - even if I can only use it in the middle of the night. I miss film. My photography studies were film-based, and I can disappear into Photoshop and Lightroom for hours. All I'm ever really trying to achieve with my editing though is a more 'film look'.
Whatever that means...

I've also learnt quite a few alternative photographic printing processes over the years and the craving for a manual creative process is strong. I love the feeling I get from having made something by hand. I've just put in an order for some chemistry from my wonderful supplier in Melbourne, so once that comes - it's playtime!

In the meantime I'd love to know which you prefer - it's one of my favourite photos with Ms M. Colour or B&W? Sooc is also there for reference (just cropped to same size for sharing, not other edits).

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend, Cx

Ms M and I met on a Saturday evening for our photoshoot. The beach was so, so crowded. We had a vision - but it didn't include hundreds of people enjoying an evening swim and an al fresco dinner... So I took a few pictures to get her comfortable in front of the camera, and we agreed to meet the following week for an early morning shoot.

It was absolutely brilliant! Without the crowds, she was so much more relaxed. She took up space and together we created images that reflect who she really is and how she wants to be seen.

As a photographer it's so important to understand how your clients want to be seen.
This was the perfect way to start my "Fierce" project. If an empowering photoshoot for your daughter sounds appealing, reach out - I'd love her to see herself through my lens.

Hi, I'm Coralie 👋đŸģ

I'm a mum of two teenage daughters, a portrait photographer, and someone who believes that every young woman deserves to see herself as fierce, confident and absolutely extraordinary.

Navigating the teenage years with my girls, I know how challenging they can be. That's why I've created portrait sessions designed to celebrate authenticity, strenth and individuality - not filtered perfection.

When I'm not behind the 📸 you'll probably find me:
📚 with my nose in a book
đŸ‘Šâ€đŸŗ cooking up a storm in my kitchen
🐾☕ walking along the beach with my dog... coffee in hand!

Here are the last images from my shoot with . She is striking, and has the most beautiful skin - I haven't had to touch up anything! The soft light was wonderful, so flattering. I'm so glad we didn't try to push ahead with our session the week before when we'd originally planned it, it was pouring most of Anniversary Weekend here in Auckland. Come to think of it - we moved here 3 years ago on that day, and the weather has always been chaos! Is that just what Auckland Anniversary is like? Have a wonderful day everyone.

I loved this shoot with Bits by Bella ! I wanted to share a few more images as I work my way through the editing. I love a more 'postbox' crop on occasion, particularly when printed and framed. I thought I'd have a look and see how they appear online. Any thoughts? Which dimensions do you prefer? My go-tos are the 8X10 from my darkroom days, and 9X16. I think we become visually jaded when we see everything in the same format. Which do you prefer, and why?

During the summer months it can be a bit of a challenge convincing clients to get up early for a photo shoot. This striking woman trusted me, and we were at our local beach for an early start. We were the first ones there, giving us total freedom for a relaxing and playful shoot. Like Rumi I believe that dawn is a sacred time. Why not try getting up early one day? Head out into nature and listen to the birdsong. The universe might even let you in on a secret or two...

2025 has been quite a year for so many of us. It feels like there has been a lot of introspection, decluttering and letting go. Probably quite apt for the year of the snake really. 2026 - the year of the horse will be all about action, enthusiasm and confidence. The fire element adds passion and fiery determination, so watch this space!

Let me share some photos with you, an old friend from university who asked me to take some pictures for him. I hadn't been shooting regularly and I was pretty nervous. By the end of the session I was back in the zone, wondering why on earth I had let Melbourne's draconian Covid lockdowns steal my joy and creativity. I've been shooting again ever since, and I'm really excited for a dynamic and action-packed 2026.

Photographing families brings me such joy. Capturing individual characters as well as the interplay between them is always fun. Dads are often the wild ones, the ones throwing their kids up in the air and laughing. Mums are often the snuggly ones, the ones tired kids go to for a cuddle and a break from the camera. This gorgeous big sister had just had her birthday party and everyone was tired. Moving between indoors and outdoors kept things fresh - both figuratively and literally.

Occasionally I shoot just one member of the family. Working with her Mum we planned the outfit, accessories and toys to tell a story. She was a wee bit shy, but warmed up during the session. Having something to do can make a shoot so much more fun for a little one. And once you have your planned shots, let them run free - you'll capture some joyful expressions!

Sometimes the most beautiful images are the simplest. Walking down the path my little one paused on the pavement to admire some bugs and leaves. Thankfully I had my camera with me, et voila!
