To the people I met somewhere between a camera, a tea and a project 🙂
I’ve been dreading and procrastinating sharing this with you, but I am closing the doors on my commercial photography business. I’ve always hated saying goodbye, but this chapter deserves an honourable acknowledgement of those who inspired me most.
In 2023, I started a journey in photography that I didn’t think would amount to anything more than taking photos for friends and family, maybe the odd mutual friend, and perhaps even the mutual of a mutual of a mutual.
But somewhere along the way, I started to meet people like you.
Diligent and knowledgeable professionals who value good work. Passionate leaders inspiring change in your industries. Entrepreneurs changing the world one step at a time. Kind creatives who inspire others.
You made me fall in love with commercial photography, obsessed with people who are proud of what they do. I saw how you never treated your job as just a means to an end.
I was quick to realise that it wasn’t about what company, industry or role I wanted to work with. I just wanted to work with you.
You who go the extra mile to learn and equip yourself for the people who trust you to help them.
You who are sometimes a little prickly on the outside because you care so much about getting your work done right.
You whose eyes would light up when someone was willing to learn about the work you love so much.
You who didn’t treat people based on what they do or how much they make, but met me and others human to human.
I will never get tired of meeting people like you.
I hope you never lose the passion you have for the work you do and the people you want to help.
I’ve decided to close this chapter, maybe just for now, maybe forever. But I didn’t want to leave without letting you know how grateful I am to have met you, worked with you, learned from you and been inspired by you.
As I close this chapter in search for more stability, I hope my next chapter brings me the joy of continuing to meet people like you.
With much gratitude,
Joylynn from Hidden Joys Studio 🫶
