From Passion to Profession. 📷✨

When I first picked up a camera, I never imagined it would become a career. I simply loved being outdoors, noticing the world a little differently, and creating images that told authentic stories.

Along the way, I’ve been incredibly lucky to be part of a generous and supportive photography community. I’ve learned from mentors, fellow photographers, workshops, and countless conversations with people who were willing to share their knowledge and encourage others to grow.

So being invited by the Massey University Photography Ckub Massey University Photography Club Albany , in partnership with Sony Alpha New Zealand , to share my own journey feels really special. It feels like an opportunity to give something back.

If my story can inspire even one person to pick up their camera, 📸 trust their creativity, or take the next step in their own journey, then it’s a conversation worth having.

A huge thank you to everyone who has been part of my path so far.
Photography gave me a community, and now it’s my turn to pass a little of that on. 💛

🌊 World Ocean Day 8th June

I’ve spent countless hours photographing our local coastline, our Gulf ‘Tikapa Moana’ and it’s special because it’s also the home.

The more time I spend there, the more I realise these beaches are not just beautiful places. They’re living ecosystems that need our protection. 🐠 🦀 🐦 🛶

I’m encouraged to see local efforts underway to help restore and protect parts of Auckland’s coastline.

The ocean has given me endless inspiration through my photography.📸

Supporting its recovery feels like a small way of giving something back.

Over the years, I’ve created photographs that don’t always fit neatly into the traditional idea of what a photograph should be.

Many of these images were never about documenting a landscape, a bird, or a location exactly as it appeared. They were about something that caught my attention in that moment: a pattern of light, a movement, a colour, or a feeling that was difficult to describe but impossible to ignore.

When I make these images, I’m not thinking about rules or trying to create a perfect record of a scene. Instead, I’m exploring what happens when light, movement, texture, and perspective come together in a way that feels more like a painting than a photograph.

Some are abstract. Some are intentional camera movements. Others emerged simply because curiosity took the lead.

They are less about what was in front of the camera and more about what I experienced while standing there.

I’ve shared a collection of these framed pieces here. If a particular image resonates with you, I’d love to hear from you. Most works are available as fine art prints on archival paper or canvas, with a range of sizes and presentation options to suit different spaces.

Whether you’re considering a piece for your home, office, or a special gift, please feel free to get in touch to discuss availability, print options, and purchasing details.
Bringing these images into the physical world is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do, and I’d be delighted to help you find the right piece.

The Art of Noticing 📸
The camera didn’t show me anything new.

It simply taught me to pay attention.

The world is more interesting than we think.

We just move through it too quickly.

Texture tells stories.

Of weather.
Of time.
Of use.

Patterns are everywhere.

The challenge is training yourself to see them.

Not every photograph begins with a subject.

Some begin with curiosity.

The view depends on where you stand, in short your perspective in life. What you see depends on what you’re willing to notice.
Here’s what I noticed, framed & documented recently on a trip to . Autumn helped add a vibrant yellow & gold to all the compositions and people specifically my fellow photog friend David who happily agreed to be in it. Thank You 😊
Some frames become more meaningful with the presence of a human and some without. Here’s a mix of both that I thought were really worth sharing.

Sometimes the memories are just a blur …
Some very happy blurs from a recent trip down South around Hamilton.. so much to take it. Resorted to abstract because I was so overwhelmed with the reality.

I saved these images for over two months to share them on Mother’s Day, because Sobhna Auntie is way more than just another person / a client.
When I met her the first time - she squeezed me into the warmest hug 🫂 I have ever experienced from someone I have never met before.
She met me like a mother - her eyes went straight to my soul asking ‘how are you’ (like really - HOW ARE YOU??) I know she wasn’t going to accept a ‘I’m fine’ version.

My eyes welled up 🥹 and from that moment on I knew she is ‘the one’ I have been waiting for to create a meaningful Portrait with. Nimeesha and Auntie remind me of what is it that we truly celebrate Mother’s Day for.

After two years- she was in the Studio with me.
I am not sure what I did right or wrong but I felt so fulfilled and rewarded as an artist to be able to create these images for her. I guess it’s my way of saying- ‘I respect her so much as a mother, as a woman and as a business woman because she is not just inspiring but she has re-defined the meaning of being a woman entrepreneur at an age when we only think of resting’

Happy Mother’s Day Sobhna Auntie & Nimeesha - you are so incredible!

Thank you for trusting me with your precious work. I feel honoured 🙏
