Tilicho Lake is a tarn--a mountain lake that has been created by glacial activity--that was formed by the meltwater and icefall from the eastern slopes of Tilicho Peak (elevation : 7134m), and is guarded to its south by the imposing and impassable 7000 metre-high mountain range known as Annapurna's Grande Barriere.

"This is the climax for most hikers, the culmination of all their efforts--something that they have 'conquered'--and is where most people feel as if there is just nothing left to do but to begin the long descent back down. Others, who do not chase peaks but rather seek out the wilderness because of their love for nature, do not necessarily see this point as a 'conquest' in their journey, but rather another place to cherish on the great tapestry that is nature."

Mount Kinabalu is the highest mountain in Malaysia, and is also the highest mountain between the Himalayas and New Guinea. Based on topographic prominence

"Suunto has approached things from a slightly different angle when compared to all the other multi-sport watch brands out there. Instead of cramming the watch full of as many features as they possibly can, Suunto has decided to focus on refining and perfecting the features that they, and a vast majority of their users, deem to be the most important: prolonging the battery life for ultra runners and multi-day hikers, increasing the reliability of the device, and honing the accuracy of the device's GPS tracking."
.all of which I go through in the write-up below.

The Suunto Spartan Ultra has been my go-to multisport GPS watch for almost two years now, and used to be Suunto's highest end device, their flagship model

Annapurna Circuit - Day 4

"The mist rolled in once again as we ascended, and it blanketed the rocks with a layer of moisture that left everything wet and very slippery. The hewn steps continued to ascend the hill and past large overhanging boulders as the trail traversed the sides of a rocky cliff. Tiny rivulets of water ran across and sometimes down the steps as the water that flowed off the cliff to our left was channeled ever downwards."

Annapurna Circuit - Day 3

"The views of the valley in the distance fixated my gaze: the slopes on either side fell sheer, their soft carpet of plants hiding the hard rocks underneath, and the low mist obscured everything above; both drawing my eyes down and over to the churning water below."

Presenting Malaysia's Half Ultras!

This compilation came about after I decided to tweak the original list of mountains that I have been using over the past few years, and to narrow it down to just the main prominent peaks, and felt that taking into account their prominence (or 'independence' if you will) was the best way to do so. Since 'Ultras' are considered peaks that have a prominence of 1500m or more, I decided to leave the 'Half Ultras' and removed any peak that had a topographic prominence* of less than 750m, and maintained the elevation cut-off at 1400m for an O2 sat of
