It is with deep sorrow to know the news of sudden passing of a remarkable birder, Arend van Riessen, Arend Dai’s passion for birds and nature was truly inspiring, and his enthusiasm was infectious to everyone who had the privilege of birdwatching alongside him.

His keen eye and extensive knowledge have enriched our lives and deepened our appreciation for the beauty and diversity of avian life. Arend Dai’s legacy will live on in the many birds he identified, the habitats he helped protect, and the countless individuals he inspired to look up and listen.

In this time of grief, let's remember Arend Dai by cherishing the moments we shared with him and continuing his work in the field he loved so dearly. May Arend Dai find peace among the birds he so cherished.

Rest in peace, Arend van Riessen, You will be deeply missed.

International Day for Biological Diversity (IDB) 2024 !

“Be part of the Plan”, the theme of International Day for Biological Diversity (IDB) 2024, is a call to action for all stakeholders to halt and reverse the loss of biodiversity by supporting the implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, also referred to as the Biodiversity Plan.

The Biodiversity Plan offers opportunities for cooperation and partnerships among diverse actors. Governments, indigenous peoples and local communities, non-governmental organizations, lawmakers, businesses, and individuals are encouraged to highlight the ways in which they are supporting the implementation of the Biodiversity Plan.

Everyone has a role to play and therefore can Be Part of the Plan.

Just had to share this stunning view from my morning walk on Sanur beach in Bali - the sunrise over the ocean was breathtaking!

Bali never fails to impress with its natural beauty. Watching the sun come up over the calm, glassy waters is such a peaceful and rejuvenating way to start the day. If you ever get the chance to visit Sanur, make sure to catch the sunrise - it's truly magical.

Anyone else love watching the sunrise? Where's your favorite spot to catch it?

Early morning | Sanur Beach | Bali, Indonesia 2024

Sanur is undoubtedly a superb place to visit in Bali. Sitting on Bali’s eastern coast, it’s a lot more chill than its western counterparts like Kuta and Canggu. The beach is also calm compared to the western surf beaches.

Some people may be turned off by the chill vibes, but I personally love them.

It ranges across Nepal, Bhutan, north central and northeast India, northern Bangladesh, and southeast Asia (Myanmar, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam). Its natural habitat is temperate forest.

Lesser Adjutant Stork with catch !

The Lesser Adjutant Stork (Leptoptilos javanicus) is a large wading bird in the stork family Ciconiidae. Like other members of its genus, it has a bare neck and head. It is however more closely associated with wetland habitats where it is solitary and is less likely to scavenge than the related greater adjutant. It is a widespread species found from Nepal, India through Southeast Asia to Java.

The purpose of the day is to raise awareness about the environment and all species that live on this planet. It also encourages people to recognise and address similar concerns and issues.

Humans, the most evolved species on the planet, have a tendency to overlook its importance. Under the guise of development or progress, certain man-made activities end up destroying biological diversity. And it's time for humans to take notice and contribute to making the Earth a more welcoming habitat for all forms of life.
