During this extra lunar month (Adhik Maas), devotees flock to this historic temple to worship Lord Vishnu, bathe in the holy pond, and wash away their sins.

Jheegu Balambu "เคเฅ€เค—เฅ เคฌเคฒเคฎเฅเคตเฅ"

The festival of Gathemangal is one of the important festivals celebrated by the Newari community on the month of Shrawan. Gathemangal falls on trayodashi (third day of the waning moon) or Krishna Chaturdashi in the month of Shrawan. This Newari festival is also called Ghantakarna Chaturdashi.

It is believed that the festival wards off evil spirits, and brings peace and prosperity in their lives. In this festival, people worship and offer sacrifices to demons, serpents and other supernatural beings as well as natural elements like wind, water, and fire since ancient times. On this day people also wear metal rings which is believed to have the power to safeguard people from all ills and evil spirits.
